Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page set up to provide a bursaries to cover the secondary school fees for young children, allowing them to continue their education.

These bursaries are required because village children often find that, whilst they attend primary school until they are 11 or 12, they are then needed in their families to work and help provide food.  Whilst school fees are modest by Western standards, they are often unaffordable for impoverished families.  The income for many Kenyan families is just enough for them to survive, sometimes hardly enough.  This is made worse if a child has lost one or both parents to malaria, AIDS or other serious complaints.  If children lose the opportunity to move onto secondary school they miss the chance to better themselves and improve the lot of their families.

What your money provides

It costs just £220 a year to provide a place at school, covering the student’s education, school uniform, text books, board and lodging.  Hence you provide the full four years at secondary school for less than £1,000.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
