Story
The Haven is a charity that supports women and their children vulnerable to domestic abuse and homelessness through a range of wrap-around support. Many women are forced to flee their homes at a moments notice for their own safety; this can be incredibly traumatising and distressing for both women and children and so The Haven is there as a beacon of hope, ensuring no woman is alone and that she can access vital support tailored to her and her childrens needs. The services The Haven offer give women and children somewhere safe, warm and welcoming where they can come to terms with the trauma they have experienced, and develop the skills and confidence to take the next step on their journey away from abuse, towards a better future. Some of these services include communal refuges/dispersed safe houses, a community outreach team that works with 100 families, a 24-hour staffed helpline, a live chat facility, criminal justice support, counselling, dedicated childrens services and more.
Why is it called The 104 Challenge? Because every year 104 women are killed by a current or former partner.
