Lyla and I were helped by this charity in 2017, personally and within our daily life. If i didn’t have this support I wouldn’t be where I am today. The problem is that many people don’t know what this charity is or that it even exists. So my intention is to raise awareness of the support available, and spread understanding that it is okay to seek help. 

WWiN provides accessible community-based services to women and children at risk of, or suffering, abuse.  They work to ensure safe spaces for families in need. This means taking referrals from Wearside but also families fleeing from other areas in unsafe environments to gain refuge

- In 2018/2019 their outreach and IDVA teams supported 1,060 women (and their children) to be safe.

- Domestic abuse affects 1 in 4 women in their lifetime - it touches most of us in some way –  mothers, sisters, daughters, friends, work colleagues or neighbours.  

I think this is a great way for people to learn, and also to make a difference. I’ll never forget or be able to thank enough, the women who supported me through a time when I had nothing. Women who work for the charity are some of the strongest most confident, kind and brave women I’ve met and they deserve to be acknowledged for what they do.
