Story
We have set ourselves another challenge for November 2019!! Nepal Impact marathon.
Darren is aiming to tackle the full marathon on November 16th! He's begun work on his training already but this does not mean at all that he is going to find this easy. It's no ordinary marathon; 2,000 meters of climbing at altitudes reaching 2,350m!
It's a hard slog, hilly torture!! Sounds fun doesn't it?...
Unfortunately I (Rebeka) have been injured whilst training this year so have only 5 weeks to marathon train. Therefore, I am unlikely to be able to do the full marathon so depending on how the next 5 weeks go, I may to change plans and volunteer/marshal the event. Either way, the run is only part of the experience, the whole week consists of charity work leading up to the big run!
We have been organising lots of fundraising events together to be able to raise as much money as possible for these awesome charities and have many more coming up in the next few weeks so keep your eyes peeled for information.
The IMS Foundation takes the biggest challenges facing Nepal & seeks out the most extraordinary grassroot organisations who are working to catalyse real change in the country. Charities that we work with out in Nepal:
Childreach Nepal: Children should be #TaughtNotTrafficked. This programme uses sport to reduce dropout rates in the schools, to prevent child from being trafficking, indulging in unsafe migration and any other form of child abuse children may face once they drop out of school
Burns Violence Survivors: With 56k of burns cases a year and only 1 hospital ward dedicated, this is a powerful project that goes right to the heart of Nepali culture. Not only tackling the care, but the prevention - a huge challenge when faced with the task of tackling domestic abuse and the use of acid in such attacks. Then, we will be getting seriously hands on with SmartPaani as we work with our village to ensure every single child has clean, safe drinking water. #powerofrunning
Any donations that you could provide to support this fantastic cause would be greatly appreciated.
