Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I am proud to be taking part in ICS (International Citizen Service), a unique opportunity for young people to become involved in International Development, making a difference to some of the world's most vulnerable people.

From 13th December, I will be placed in Lindi, Tanzania, for 12 weeks volunteering on a project that aims to 'Make Education More Reliable.' The project has been designed to have a lasting impact on the local community, and looks at how to better link the education sector and the local industry to raise students awareness of career options, to improve their learning outcomes and completion rates and support them in accessing higher education and employment opportunities.

I will be living with a host family under very basic conditions, with limited electricity and running water in order to be fully immersed into the local culture.

The costs of the ICS program, including flights, visas and vaccinations are government funded, therefore the money I fundraise will be going directly to VSO (Voluntary Services Overseas) in order to benefit those in need, with the goal of achieving VSO's vision for a world without poverty.
