Sanctuary Trust is a small local charity with a mission to help homeless men in Jersey by providing shelter & support for men who have hit a crisis in their lives.
The men supported by the charity can have a range of issues including economic hardship, domestic violence, mental health issues, family/relationship breakdown or addiction issues.
The joint running costs for both facilities are approximately £250,000 per year, which equates to just under £30 per man per day. Income is drawn from small amounts of rent from residents in employment; or from social security payments for housing benefit for those who are unemployed.
The charity receives no annual financial support from the States of Jersey and as such, it operates with funding gap, or budgetary deficit, of well over £100,000.
It depends entirely on the generosity and support of the community and every penny is gratefully received large or small.
