Story
Thanks for visiting our page.
Firstly, we are not marathon runners.
Secondly for the past 15 years we have been looking after the nations heart ❤️, in our day time jobs of cardiac nurses, we both work at Royal Papworth Hospital and look after patients with cardiac issues as our main vocation.
Thirdly, we were supposed to run these 26.2 miles in March 2020 ..... & we all know what happened then. So our training come to a sudden holt as we were needed as soldiers to fight the war on COVID - 19...... I don’t need to recall what that was like, so our places got deferred to 2021... our running declined and we have struggled to get any form of motivation to get back into the swing of it, it’s been emotional turmoil having this pending for so long.
Fourthly , We chose the BHF as it has helped halve the number of people dying from heart and circulatory disease in the UK but sadly every day hundreds of people lose their lives. It's only thanks to support from people like us that the BHF can create new treatments and discover new cures for heart disease.
And finally for every step we take on this run, our thoughts will be with every hand we have held, every heart we have restarted, every chest we have performed CPR on, every abnormal heart rhythm we have acted on, the family’s we have comforted as these moments of our job, remind us of one thing only that matter - that lives are precious. Along with thoughts of our past and present colleagues that get us through the most trying of times which is all in a days work..... ❤️
If you find the time to sponsor us, we’d be so grateful and every little helps.......
Lots love Becky and Laura
