Story
As many of you know, I lost my dear friend, Hannah Wilson, last year to cancer. She received the late diagnosis and gave birth to her precious daughter Sadie, only days apart. Hannah sadly only got to spend 7 weeks with Sadie and she also left behind her beautiful little boy Jude (then 22 months old), her husband, her parents and a big family who all adored her, not to mention her friends, work colleagues and the children she taught. I was completely devastated and heartbroken by the news and I still find it very hard to comprehend and accept what has happened.
Hannah and I were lifelong friends. We quite literally knew each other from birth – we were born in the same hospital a few hours apart! This is where our mums became friends, and we grew up together from then on. When I moved away at the age of 9, we vowed that we would always be best friends and stay in contact and that’s exactly what we did. We have been through all of life’s milestones together and I have many special memories, which I hold dear.
In honour of Hannah’s memory, I will be running the Great North Run half marathon and raising money for Mummy’s Star, a charity which supported Hannah in those precious last few weeks of her life and have been an ongoing source of support for Andrew, Hannah’s husband.
If you are able to donate and support me, it would be really appreciated. Mummy’s Star is such a small charity, offering support to Mummy’s who are diagnosed with cancer in or around pregnancy (2 people each day face a diagnosis in these circumstances). Their work is invaluable, they are the only charity of their kind and they have helped Hannah and her family so much.
Thank you for reading and please donate if you are able to. xxx
