The Virgin Money London Marathon is the largest annual fundraising event on the planet - runners have raised over £750 million for good causes since the race began in 1981.

Story

On 22nd April I will be running the London Marathon

I would love your support and donations (big or small!) in aid of me and my little legs taking on those 26.2miles! This will be my first full marathon, and I'm aiming for a time somewhere between 4 - 4.5 hours.

I will be raising money in support of Alzheimer’s Society, as this disease has sadly affected my Grandma for the last 6+ years.

Dementia currently affects around 850,000 people in the UK alone. The vast majority of dementia cases cannot be cured, although research is continuing into developing drugs, vaccines and other medical treatments. Alzheimer’s Society are the only UK charity investing in research into dementia care, cause, cure and prevention. They also offer support to people with dementia, their families, friends and carers.

To give you an idea of what your donations will go towards:

  • £21 could pay for a person with dementia, or their carer, to spend an hour with an experienced Dementia Support Worker
  • £50 could fund the equipment a dementia researcher needs for a day to investigate ways to improve care and treatment for the condition and brings us closer to finding a cure
  • £116 could pay for a person with dementia or their carer to attend peer support sessions for one month

All donations are very much appreciated :)
