Story
I am doing a skydive in memory of my wonderful Grandpa on Saturday 4th September 2021. He passed away on October 4th 2020, so it will be coming up to almost one year since we lost him. If you know me, I had a very close relationship with my Gramps. He supported me through everything, along with his 6 other grandchildren, and everyone else!
I don't know where I would be without him. I am so thankful for everything he did for me and all of my family. This included supporting me with math through school, helping me pass my exams, taking me to my driving theory test and dropping me off at University on my first day.
He was so well known and respected within his community, he was a Headteacher for many years, a Magistrate and a volunteer for MS Society. He dedicated so much care and time to other people, it only feels right to do something amazing in his memory.
We found out last year that my grandpa had lung cancer, and everything was very fast paced from there, especially with restrictions due to Covid-19. It was a really difficult time for all of us, he was and still is our absolute world, so you can imagine it felt like the world was crashing down on us when we heard this news.
It was not until going through this, that I realised just how important end of life / palliative services are. They are vital! We felt like we had more time with my Grandpa because of their wonderful support
I got myself a job working for Cransley Hospice in Northamptonshire (where I now live) in April this year, and I have so much gratitude for all of the staff who provide outstanding care to their patients.
Please leave a donation in memory of this amazing man! it is hugely appreciated.
