On January 20th 2015, we lost our cousin and sister, Sarah, very suddenly. She died of a brain tumour.
Whilst Sarah had been quite ill for some time the Doctors considered her to be physically healthy so she battled on, continuing to work and care for her three-year old daughter.
Sarah was incredibly strong, always putting her lovely daughter first and there to support her friends. She went to the Doctors time and time again but was told she was depressed - despite feeling incredibly ill she continued to battle on and try different ways to sleep and pick herself up.
None of us expected what was to take place, in December. One day Sarah was playing Sleeping Lions, over Christmas, with the children and then a couple of days later she was lying in Intensive Care, in a coma - just a day after having a brain scan and being diagnosed with a brain tumour.
After the sudden loss of Sarah we felt we had to do something in the memory of our truly inspirational cousin and sister.
We hope, in the future, the money raised will help fund research into brain tumours, raise awareness and help detect brain tumours earlier, preventing other families from going through the loss and devastation our family have felt.
Losing Sarah has left an enormous hole in our family that nothing will ever replace, but if we can just raise awareness and money for research maybe one day we can ensure other people do not go through as much pain as our lovely Sarah did.
Brain tumours are responsible for the highest number of cancer deaths of adults and children under 40 yet they receive less than 2% of funding on cancer research.
