Story
I am currently training to run this year's London Marathon in April. I attended the event last year to support a friend, the atmosphere and amount of people involved was amazing and so I entered the ballot for this year, and to my astonishment actually got a place!
Training has been really hard with the cold weather, and problems I've been experiencing with my knees, but now I have decided on a charity I am really looking forward to getting through my training plan and enjoying the day and most of all raising money for a great cause.
I have decided to donate any sponsors I receive to Great Ormond Street Hospital. Great Ormond Street Hospital has always relied on public support even after the founding of the NHS. The hospital aims to help thousands of children and their families every year, and I'm sure many of you reading this will either know someone or know of someone who has benefitted from the wonderful work they do.
One of the main reasons for me choosing Great Ormond Street Hospital is because I have seen the amazing work they do first hand. At just a young age a classmate of mine was diagnosed with Meningitis, and received treatment and care from the hospital during her recovery. I can remember visiting my friend at such a young age and feeling so relieved because of the safe and friendly place she was in.
Great Ormond Street manages to keep the children busy and feeling at home. The hospital provides children with plenty of things to do, a colourful surrounding, caring staff and much more. The hospital is famous for going beyond the duty of care most hospitals would give, something which is vital for both the children and their families and that is why funding is so essential for the hospital.
Since then, I have heard only positive reviews and experiences about the hospital and the care they provide. I would really like to raise as much as I can for such a great cause and so any donations would be really appreciated!
Thank you for taking the time to read this, and please come and support me on the day! (Sunday 24 April).
