Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page. We are running the Great South Run on Sunday 30 October in aid of The Stroke Association. This 10 mile run, is a big challenge for us both.
Stroke is the third biggest killer in the UK and is the leading cause of adult disability. The Stroke Association is the only UK charity solely concerned with combating stroke in people of all ages. They help stroke survivors and their families directly through their Life After Stroke Services, as well as being the leading funder into research against stroke and campaigning to raise awareness.
We have chosen this charity as strokes have affected many people close to us in the last couple of years, and the charity doesn't get as much publicity as cancer and heart charities. The run is dedicated to Grandma Mary, whose stroke earlier this year, has had a huge impact on her language, confidence and independence. The Stroke Association continue to offer her support that she needs as she adapts to life after stroke.
