Story
On 9th September our family's world was ripped apart by the tragic, senseless death of my cousin Beth 'Betty' Wood.
At just 18 she had her whole life ahead of her, her room already packed up ready for university. In a split second that all changed and our hearts are all broken. The shockwaves of what happened that day will continue for many more days and months to come. For Rachel, Simon, George, Grace, Brian & Erin the pain is unimaginable.
The Adult Intensive Care Unit (AICU) at Queen's Medical Centre gave them and us, her extended family, time and support in our time of crisis. Words cannot begin to express our gratitude. Everyone in the department was exceptional and it brought me some comfort to know that, yet again, the NHS I am so proud to work for, went above and beyond.
None of us can process what has happened. Those who know me know that one of the reasons I run is because sometimes it's not just physical exercise, it's mental. And so, on Sunday 30th September I will get round 13.1 miles for our darling girl, Betty. Money raised will be put towards AICU in her memory xxx
