Story

Myself and meg are running the London marathon on Sunday 21st April 2024. We are running this in memory of Steve Rogers, megs dad who sadly passed away last may from suicide. We want to raise awareness about mental health and especially in men, there is so much stigma attached to it but you shouldn’t feel ashamed it is ok to ask for help. The money we raise will go to Notting Hill genesis community foundation charity who do amazing work in the community providing homes for lower income households and much much more.

So we are asking you to help us by donating to this wonderful charity and help support other family’s, vulnerable people that my be suffering from mental health due to their personal circumstances.  So together let’s improve the lives of individuals who struggle.

Notting Hill Genesis (NHG) works in the community, providing homes for lower-income households. This is our primary purpose, and everything else we do supports that aim. Money raised through fundraising contributes to our hardship fund, helping residents during times of hardship and crisis. Sadly, many of our residents struggle to meet basic food and energy costs or pay for essential household items such as beds, fridges, and cookers. This is often due to vulnerability, ill-health, family bereavement or unexpected gaps in benefit claims. Our hardship fund supports around 500 NHG residents per year during these difficult times, with grants to help ease stress and suffering.

    • Hardship Fund - Many individuals and families are struggling to survive in these harsh times of high unemployment and benefit cuts. The Hardship Fund provides emergency grants to those in most need.

    • An Activities Officer - Organised activities giving residents something to look forward to and offer a chance to socialise

  • A Volunteer Programme - Brings together people with a wide range of skills to meet the needs of our most vulnerable tenants

  • Partnership Officers - Linking together residents with local agencies who offer support with employment, debt advice, IT skills and mental health.
