Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Having had diabetes for nearly 15 years I thought it was about time I did something to help drive change and get us closer to a cure!
On the 2nd November I'll be challenging myself to squat 40,000kg in 4 hours, within 1000 reps. The date marks 15 years since my diagnosis and is 12 days before World Diabetes Day.
Diabetes is something that never goes away and you can't take a break from. You get used to managing it, but the physical and mental stresses that it brings are something that not many people realise. I have to test my blood sugars 6-10 times every day and do a minimum of 6 injections every day, normally nearer 8 or 9. Low blood sugars are not only inconvenient and can stop you from doing day to day activities, but can also be fatal. High blood sugars pretty much feel like you're having the hangover from hell without actually having had the fun of the night before, and can lead to serious complications like blindness, kidney damage, and limp amputations.
Diabetes isn't just an inconvenience - it's hard to manage and can become a life-threatening condition. This is why I want to raise as much awareness and money as possible to help make diabetes a thing of the past.
I would be extremely grateful to anyone who can donate to my challenge to help Diabetes UK continue their work in developing better ways to manage diabetes and finding a cure!
Thank you!
