Story
Hi Everyone,
Firstly, thank you for taking the time to come to my page, if you're here to read my story that's good, if you're here to donate to this wonderful charity, that's even better and I can't thank you enough if you do choose to support me.
I'm raising money for Samaritans, they're a fantastic charity that are there for you when no-one else is, or can be, they're a friendly voice, and a helping hand.
The Samaritans turned my life around when I was at an extremely low point, things seemed that dark that I didn't even feel I could reach out to those who know me, I didn't want to worry them, or be a burden. I have an incredible family, a wonderful partner, and great friends, but being in that dark place can change things. I was thinking the worst of thoughts and was struggling to even find the effort to care about myself, I was losing weight, barely sleeping, and found it hard to even force a smile.
I know it may be difficult for some to understand, or maybe even hard to believe, but an amazing man called Brendan, saved my life at 3am on a cold midweek night in January 2017.
He stayed with me on the phone for over an hour, doing his best to comfort me, and to try and get me to talk about happy memories, or any dreams I may have for the future, he even called me again later that day to make sure I was feeling alright and had slept that night. He made me realise that you don't have to keep yourself trapped in that situation, it may take a lot of strength to pull yourself back into existence, into a life where you care, and can feel happy, but making you can start to try.
Now, whenever I feel anywhere near that level of darkness, I remember the phone call we had, the things I chose to think about when he wanted to know what makes me happy. I couldn't be more grateful, and have been living an incredible life, since then, I've graduated university, moved out, and got my first job, things have truly turned around for the better.
Samaritans are always there for you, you don't have to be suicidal to call them as some may believe, they are there for you when you need them. It can be easy to feel alone sometimes, but you never have to be alone.
Thank you very much for taking the time to read my story, I hope it has opened your eyes, and your hearts, to this amazing charity.
