Story
In 2015 my Mum was diagnosed with Leukaemia, she fought for months relying on blood/platelet transfusions and chemotherapy until she became strong enough to receive a bone marrow transplant from her brother. The transplant was successful and thanks to the Anthony Nolan Trust's stem cell register, many other Leukaemia patients have had life saving/prolonging bone marrow transplants just like my Mum.
2 years after the bone marrow transplant we got the news that Mum's Leukaemia had returned, she was not as strong now, having fought so hard the first time. She was given a less intense version of the therapy she had before but it was not successful and whilst on the waiting list for a new trial therapy she contracted double pneumonia. Mum survived for months on blood and platelet transfusions alone and this was also thanks to the Anthony Nolan trust's volunteer blood couriers and the blood and platelet donors across the UK. On Sunday 31st March 2019, Mother's Day, we lost Mum to Leukaemia. She was the leader of our family and the most selfless and loving Mother and wife. We miss her everyday.
Please donate whatever you can to help fund Anthony Nolan's life changing support and please consider joining the stem cell register. You could save a life. I'm sure Mum would be cheering me on to the end.
Thank you
