Thanks for visiting my page.
In June 2018, I will be climbing Snowdon mountain at night in support of Solving Kids' Cancer Europe.
About the challenge: Snowdon is the highest mountain in Wales and England, at an elevation of 1,085 metres above sea level, and the highest point in the British Isles outside the Scottish Highlands. Myself along with some work colleagues will be climbing the mountain at night in complete darkness, which I'm told is a very different experience than during the day as your senses get used to the darkness and the silence of the night. We'll have only torch light to guide us and enjoy the sunrise on the way back down from the summit. The trek takes approx 8-10 hours.
About Solving Kids' Cancer: Solving Kids’ Cancer supports children and families affected by neuroblastoma, a rare form of paediatric cancer.
They provide a range of specialist support services to families affected by neuroblastoma designed to equip them with the knowledge and resources they need to fight this disease. They also fund the ground-breaking neuroblastoma research that is essential to push treatment forward and improve outcomes for children.
A few statistics about Neuroblastoma:
- There are around 100 cases of Neuroblastoma diagnosed a year, where predominantly children are under 5 years old.
- Neuroblastoma has one of the lowest survival rates of all childhood cancers, with only 67% surviving to 5 years.
- High-risk Neuroblastoma has a high chance of relapse, and relapsed Neuroblastoma has low survival rates - only 1 in 10 survive a relapse.
Please support me and this worthy cause !
Thanks
