Story
When I realised that 2020 would be the year of the 40th London Marathon, in the same year that I will be turning 40, it looked like the perfect challenge to set myself (a little extreme I know but it seemed like a good idea at the time!). Once I knew I'd been successful in getting a place I decided that I should put it to good use by also raising money for charity. In 2019 my uncle was diagnosed with vascular dementia and, knowing what a huge impact the diagnosis had been for him, I asked him who he thought I should raise money for. He said that the Alzheimer's Society had been (and still was) a major source of support to him, his wife and family and I know that without the help of the Alzheimer's Society the diagnosis would have been even harder to deal with. I am therefore running the marathon to raise money to help ensure that their vital work continues in the future. Unfortunately due to COVID 19 the London Marathon 2020 was cancelled but I am determined to complete this challenge and will be running in the 2021 event.
