Story
I have run this far only once before and madly managed it in 1 hour 57 minutes and 59 seconds (roughly!). 5 years ago. I'm the other side of 40 now and so really, you would do well to sponsor me purely for the audacity of trying again.
I'm running KEW THE RUN, Kew Gardens Half Marathon on 2 April 2023 not only to enjoy the Cherry and Magnolia Blossom when they're in bloom at Kew for free (motives exposed) but to raise funds for a brilliant local charity, Herts & Middlesex Wildlife Trust.
Time and again in my work as a gardener, as part of a community surrounded by green belt under threat of development, and as a HMWT member, the great frontline work of the Herts & Middlesex Wildlife to protect and speak up for wildlife and their broader environment comes to my attention. I fear the wild silence that would surround us all without their work and more than ever feel deep gratitude they exist. So thank you for your sponsorship - every penny raised will make my feet run faster and go directly to fund their critical work.
To tell you a little more about them in their own words:
Herts & Middlesex Wildlife Trust is a local conservation charity working to protect wildlife and help people connect with nature. We believe that wildlife should have space to thrive alongside our everyday lives and that everyone benefits from having access to nature. By working alongside our communities, we help people learn about the wildlife on their doorstep and how they can take practical action to protect it. We work collaboratively with individuals and organisations to create a sustainable wilder future.
