Story
Hi everyone,
I am running the half marathon along side Matthew. He is tasked with keeping me moving 😁
I am raising funds for the centres but also to help my own mental health. Exercise and a healthy lifestyle really do help with a more positive outlook. It can be hard to get there, and I am still battling with my PTSD every day, but I know that this goal will really help. I was medically retired from the police force due to PTSD following an on duty incident. This has not only affected me, but also my family; which is why my husband Matthew is joining me in this challenge!
I’m going to share something which is very close to me. It’s taken a heck of a lot for me to dig out the picture of my attestation into the force. It was the proudest day of my life. Now I can’t bear to look at it or be around any police at all. My fears and anxieties control each day. I am working hard in therapy to try and come to terms with this and learn to cope with it. The PTSD will never fully go away as it’s part of me.
I have attended The Police Treatment Centres during my 12.5 years' service, on both the physiotherapy and psychological wellbeing programmes. Both of these programmes were outstanding and without it I and many other officers would not have been
“ back on the beat!"
Please support those who risk their lives to keep us safe every day.
Thank you oodles
