Story
On 27th May 2017 I will be walking 100km from London to Brighton, which is one of the Ultra Challenge series in the UK.
I have no doubts that this challenge will be tough; walking 62 miles over various terrain in under 33 hours come wind, rain, hail or shine. However I am certain it will be worth every ounce of my blood, sweat and blisters; the motivation being that the money raised is going to a great charity, Breast Cancer Care.
Those of you that know me may already know that my Mum was diagnosed with breast cancer last summer. Since then she has undergone chemotherapy, three operations and most recently in February, radiotherapy. It was completely out of the blue and still feels very surreal if I am honest. However, my Mum and I are definitely not alone in our experience and it feels like everyone I speak to knows someone currently affected by cancer. You can go from day to day being so busy and then something unexpected happens to turn your life upside down.
Why partake in London2Brighton?
I hope to raise a small amount of money so that Breast Cancer Care can continue to deliver the excellent support and assistance they provide. If my donation benefits just one person in a small way, then walking from London to Brighton is the least I can do to help. On a purely personal basis, I’d also like to show my Mum how she continues to inspire me and has always pushed me to pursue my dreams and stay motivated. She’s my best friend as well as my Mum (sorry I have avoided soppy until now).
If you can offer any donation then that would be much appreciated. Thank you!
