We are here for the people of East London to live healthier, longer lives

Story

Sadly our loving father, husband, grandad and friend, Dave, lost his battle with Mesothelioma on the 23rd of October 2012.

Dad was keen to help others with the same illness so we have set this up in his memory to raise money into the research of Mesothelioma.

Mesothelioma is a form of lung cancer caused by asbestos. There is currently nothing that can be done to help people with this other than to make life as comfortable as possible.

Many years ago people didn't know that asbestos could cause cancer and is in the body for many years before it is picked up. Dad had it for about 30-40 years without knowledge. In December 2011 he had fluid drained from his lung and a biopsy was taken. In January 2012 we were given the awful news. We have been lucky to share the wonderful and special 10 months with Dad, we went to Disneyland Paris where he went on rides with his beloved Grandson Harry. These are memories we will cherish forever.

Over the next 10 years it is expected that the amount of people diagnosed with Mesothelioma will increase and we would like to help with the research into, we hope and pray, a cure. For more information on the charity please visit www.mesothelioma.co.uk

Taking part in the Virgin London Marathon 2015 is a huge challenge (eeek) but well worth it, in order to raise as much money as possible for the charity.

On behalf of Dad (Dave) thank you for your donation.
