London Marathon 2024 · 21 April 2024 ·

Every 2 hours, someone in the UK sustains a spinal cord injury. Their world – and that of their family – is turned upside-down. SIA aim to reach everyone affected by spinal cord injury, to connect them to all the help and support they need to life a fulfilled life.

Story

My mums brother, my uncle Robin had an accident and broke
his neck and was admitted to Stoke Mandeville hospital for treatment and was advised he would not walk again.

At the same time a man called Alan suffered an industrial
accident and broke his back and was admitted to Stoke Mandeville hospital for treatment and was in a bed next to Robin.  Robins sister (my mother) visited frequently and ended up befriending Alan whom she later went on to marry and then my brother and I came along.

Both dad and Robin have been through so much in their lives
and have received tremendous support and rehabilitation and both had the grit and determination to walk and prove everyone wrong.

Therefore, I am raising money for the spinal injuries association
to give something back to them.  I will be running the London Marathon 2024 in memory of my amazing dad who never let
anything get him down and for my uncle Robin who continues to battle through everything life throws at him.
