Story
Thankyou for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am lucky enough to be going to New York next month to run in the Marathon on 1st November. Having never been to America it will be quite a trip. For those of you who don't know me so well this will be my 7th Marathon so barring any major mishap I will definetly complete it. Having gained the qualifying time in Paris last year I decided that I really should use it rather than loose it.
Running a marathon involves a lot of commitment to training and is a long way to run so I want to put this time to good use by running for the Alzheimer's Society. I have chosen this charity because my mother-in-law, Marjorie, has had the disease for over 6 years now so I have experienced the decline in her condition and the effect it has had on her close family and friends. Not only has it robbed her of her life as it was, but it has greatly affected Mark and all the family. It really is a very sad and distressing process for everyone.

YES, I'VE DONE IT. Wow what an experience !. Tired, aching but elated! A great day and really pleased with my time of 3hrs 37minutes on a very difficult course. A lot of inclines which made it very tough. I finished in the top 7000 out of over 43000 so thrilled. It was amazing running through New York and I tried to take in as much as I could but the last few miles were a bit of a blurr!!! Important thing was to take part and finish and make a difference with the money you have all pledged. Great to get home and find that I have now passed my target. I have really enjoyed getting all the good luck messages, they kept me going when exhaustion started to set in and I was desperately looking for the finish line! Thankyou so much for your support its been wonderful and has made the whole experience so worthwhile.
PS. Thoroughly enjoy the sights and shopping in New York too!
