Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Just 7 weeks ago my lovely mum was diagnosed with the the late stages of pancreatic cancer. She went on to be cared for at Woking and Sam Beare Hospice. This was an incredibly difficult time for mum and all of the family. At first mum was adamant that she wanted to be cared for at home, she couldn't comprehend not seeing her lovely home again. The palliative care team persuaded her to see and stay at the hospice as to make some decisions regarding her medical care. What was meant to be a stop gap, turned into a long term stay. She instantly loved the hospice. She very quickly decided that she wanted to stay. How could she not? It really was beautiful. The atmosphere was calm and serene and the staff were wonderful.
The care she received at the hospice was outstanding. Everything was done with compassion and care and nothing was ever too much trouble for the wonderful staff. They made mum comfortable, and catered to her every need. She was able to enjoy her last weeks surrounded by her loved ones with a prosecco or a wine in hand, laughing and smiling all the way.
They not only offered the medical care she needed but her well-being was cared for too. From reflexology to counselling and being in her favourite place; the jacuzzi bath.
As a family we are taking part in a 5 mile woodland walk to raise money for the hospice. I cannot thank the hospice enough for the care they provided mum. The staff really did make it such a special place to be, always singing and dancing and going over and above to make sure mum was laughing and relaxed. Not only for mum, but for us as a family too, they were there with a shoulder to cry on and a cup of tea.
We would love to raise as much money as we can to help the hospice help others. Mum almost always had a smile on her face and always expressed her gratitude to the staff and said how lucky she was to be there.
Thank you In advance for any donations you can spare. It all makes a huge difference.
