We're a team of five Cambridge University students who are participating in the Mongol Rally. Starting on July 23, the Mongol Rally is an over-land race from London to Ulan Bataar, Mongolia – a distance of over 10,000 miles (approximately 1/3 of the Earth’s surface), passing through almost 15 countries, undertaken by almost 300 teams every year. To date, the Mongol Rally has raised approximately £1.5 million for charity. The catch? The rally must be undertaken in a car with a smaller than 1.0L engine, or an emergency services vehicle which can be donated to the people of Mongolia. We’ve forgone the relative ease of a small car in favour of a 7-ton Carmichael Fire Engine!
We’re undertaking the rally to raise money for the Anthony Nolan Trust, the UK’s most successful stem cell register, which helps match stem cell donors to those in need of lifesaving transplants.
