Story
In 2018 Camilla & Julian Read decided to depart one small island (UK) for another (NZ) and see how far they can cycle over one year to raise funds & awareness for the protection of endangered habitats they pass along the way.
On 7th March 2018 we set off from the UK and cycle through Eurasia towards New Zealand, crossing 27 countries over 17,500 kms (10,870 miles).
We will be riding through some of the world's most beautiful and inspiring natural habitats. Through fundraising for the World Land Trust we hope to raise awareness of the importance of these habitats, not just for those people and animals living there, but to the health and wellbeing of all of us, and our planet.
Our target is to raise £1 per mile ridden. Here's how your donation will make a difference:
- £25 - plant five trees
- £100 - save an acre of threatened habitat
- £1,000 - plant 200 trees
- £2,000 - save 20 acres of threatened habitat
We will visit some of the World Land Trust's projects en route and see how the money raised is being used in practice.
