Story
The global pandemic has impacted almost every area of our lives. Small charities like Reach draw a huge amount of the funds they need to run from fundraising events, such as the London Marathon. With the implementation of social distancing measures, many of these sources of funding have been cut off with immediate effect.
Ever since our daughter Hero was born missing her right hand, Reach has become a part of our life. Through the charity we have met families nearby who share our differences and experiences. We’ve found reassurance for us as parents, and our once regular Reach get togethers were the only place Hero got to experience not being 'the different one' and got to hang out with other kids just like her.
Reach is so much more than a support network for families; it is a source of information, a trove of experience and knowledge, it is a place of understanding and a signpost for opening doors and providing opportunities for our children. It’s a community that knows from experience how resilient, daring and able all of our children are.
To help raise some much-needed funds, I am holding a raffle. The prize will be a bespoke soft toy, made by myself from a Funky Friends Factory pattern. The toy can be made as a memory toy from old baby grows or t-shirts, or in patchwork from various material choices. The design options are plentiful! The soft toy can even have a limb-difference like Hero's Larry the Lion (pictured).
To be in with a chance of winning a bespoke memory bear, I am asking for a minimum £5 donation. For donations over £5, each £5 will be worth one entry, so £15 = 3 entries into the raffle.
*** Please ensure you leave your name alongside your donation so that I am able to contact you if you win! ***
A winner will be picked at random on Friday, 8th of May and the winner will be contacted soon after to discuss the details of your soft toy.
Thank you so much for the support!
