Reach 24 - Safaa's Refugee Aid Campaign

Reach 2023 - Safaa & Maariyah's fundraising for Lebanon · 31 March 2023
Hello, I am Safaa and this year I have taken on the responsibility to fundraise for Lebanon. My target is to reach £5500 which once reached we will be travelling to Lebanon and hand delivering food packages and life saving aid to the 1000’s of displaced Syrian and Palestinians refugees living in camps, some of whom have been there for over 30 years!
Please donate generously, and help me reach my target as quickly as possible so that we can rapidly provide the support so needed in Lebanon.
Why Lebanon?
Lebanon has the largest number of refugees per capita in the world!
Yet from recent news you will have noticed that Lebanon's economy has suffered greatly over the past decade. More recently Lebanon has struggled to deal with emergencies like the Beirut port blast, COVID-19, and the latest cholera outbreak which has contributed to it's growing humanitarian needs.
Lebanon’s population is facing increasing poverty levels, food insecurity, and disease outbreaks. While prices are skyrocketing due to a severe economic crisis, millions of Lebanese residents and Syrian/Palestinian refugees are food insecure, with needs expected to grow even more.
Lebanon has the largest population of refugees in the world with over 2 million living in makeshift camps. Some 90% of Syrians, 73% of Palestinian refugees, and over 50% of Lebanese households need assistance.
The donations raised will help support those living in some of the worst conditions imaginable in a country that has taken them in but struggles to support them.
Those who find themselves in these situations are at their most vulnerable and it is through your donations, and the help of charities like this that some comfort can be provided.
Physical Aid
Currently, there are team members on the ground in Lebanon distributing food packs and winter kits to the Palestinian and Syrian refugees. (See below "How you can help" section)
Medical Aid
Medical centres throughout the country face shortages of basic supplies, in a time when a lack of healthcare can be a death sentence. The most urgent needs is continually having to be reassessed.
Right now, essential medical supplies are being delivered in Saida, Beirut, Bekaa, North Lebanon and Baalbek.
Educational Aid
Education is one of the basic human rights we often take for granted here having free access to however this is not the case for a lot of children who find themselves victims of situations outside of their control.
This school year 360 Syrian children in Lebanon will be provided with education in Sawasia and Al Rahma teaching centres in Bekaa.
The children will study in accordance with the Lebanese curriculum, learning Maths, Arabic, English, and Science, and will also have the opportunity to work on their creative and computing skills.
Mental health
Aside from the physical assistance required, it is undeniable that there is a psychological toll associated with enduring this level of hardship even on the strongest of us. For this reason, there are also psychosocial support and mental health awareness campaigns being provided in Lebanon.
