Ronnie’s Story
Ronnie is aged 5 and lives with his family in Broadstairs, Kent. He has been in and out of hospital for most of his life ever since suffering a diaphragmatic hernia when he was aged only 14 months.
Ronnie has now endured 4 major bowel operations, and has recently undergone a lifesaving bowel transplant at Kings College Hospital, London.
The success rate of bowel transplants is not as high as other organ transplants and the recovery process is also significantly longer, meaning Ronnie and his family still have difficult times to face ahead. The good news is that two thirds of bowel transplant patients make a long term recovery
As Ronnie’s family have never had a holiday together, Ronnie wrote to charity Rays of Sunshine to ask them to grant his wish to send the family to Disney Land Paris.
If we can raise the money, Ronnie and his family will spend 4 days at the Disney Land Paris Resort, staying at the Newport Hotel. As well as visiting the park, the family will be treated to a character breakfast, and see the Buffalo Bill show.
We’ve been fundraising in our offices and next week our staff are undertaking a sponsored 6 mile walk in Disney Themed fancy dress, in honour of Ronnie's wish. We’ll also have fundraising stand at this years’ NMT Awards, of which we are proud to be the main sponsor. However, our target is still a long way off and time is running out.
Please help Redwoods Dowling Kerr put a smile back on Ronnie's face in time for Christmas.
Thank you for your kindness.
