Story
On the 28th of May this year, Becca, Miah, Emma, Emily and I are going to run the Edinburgh Half marathon to raise money for The Raymond Fernie Foundation.
On the 1st of March 2019 my dad lost his eight year fight to prostate cancer. Those who knew my Dad know that he was the biggest personality in any room and could never fail to make anyone laugh. He was my biggest inspiration in everything he did and whenever I looked at him I never saw an illness I just saw my Dad who tried to make the world a better place for anyone that he could.
This is why we started The Raymond Fernie Foundation, he was so passionate about supporting youth employability. He helped his students achieve their dream jobs through his work setting up an employability initiative at Lohgelly High School. When he took his ideas to his role as Developing the Young Workforce manager it became the template for councils across Scotland.
I decided to run the half marathon to help raise money to keep his legacy going as I know how passionate he was about his work and what he was trying and did achieve.
My friends have been my rocks the last few years so it is only fitting that I have dragged them along for the journey! Get your running shoes on girls.
Any support you can give would be amazing, we all hope to do you proud dad and will celebrate with a beer and some ice cream for you.
