Story
I'm joining Cancer Research UK's Race for Life this year. My wife has now been cancer free for ten years now, after being diagnosed with breast cancer, she had a lumpectomy, which was successfully removed. She had radiotherapy for six weeks. Sadly, her beautiful sister Christine, passed away from lung cancer six years ago. Her fantastic brother in law Norman Banks passed away from multiple myeloma, a form of leukaemia only three years ago. My beautiful wife has entered the Birkenhead Park race for life the last five years with her daughter Julie who is very proud of her mum. I have followed them around he course taking pictures each year, and I have tried to compete the last three years as a contestant. Sadly, I was told men cannot enter the race. Why? Men suffer breast cancer, indeed any form of this vile disease. I loved Christine and Norman and watched them leave us far too soon. So I have entered this year's race as Raychel, and will be donning lots of pink clothing and make up. I have raised £360 up to now, and expect this to rise from promised donations. I have watched Bernie Singleton, best known as Bernie Bucket, year in and year out at this event, what a fantastic fundraiser for this disease. Sadly, Bernie has now lost her battle, so let no one stop me from raising money for all those people who have lost friends, family and colleagues to this horrible disease, and all those people who are still suffering, and indeed, those who have beaten it like my beautiful wife Sheila. Cancer...I'M COMING TO GET YOU!!!
