Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. This page is in memory of Rekha.

Rekha bravely fought breast cancer for over 10 years but sadly passed away at the age of 40 on June 15th2018 in San Jose, California. Her husband of 18 years, Ray and her 12-year-old son Hayden survives her.

Rekha was much loved and will be missed dearly by all her friends and family.

Rekha was an extraordinary human being; elegant, beautiful both inside and out, extremely intelligent and hard-working, fiercely resilient and above all a devoted mother and wife.  Her zest for life and can do attitude was evident to all who knew her. She never compromised and did everything and more to bring up her beautiful and well-rounded boy whilst working tirelessly. This fine 12-year-old embodies everything that Rekha possessed in her character and she was very proud of him and his achievements to date.

Rekha had been battling cancer for over 10 years and fought bravely every single day against a painful, debilitating illness. Despite this, she always had a smile on her face and accepted her personal health challenges head-on.

Rekha grew up as the eldest of two and went to school in Dubai. She met her future husband Ray in her hometown of Paravur, Kerala and they got married 1999. Rekha qualified as a Chartered Accountant and completed all her exams with flying colours, whilst working full time and looking after her son and family. She took on positions of great responsibility at several accounting firms all over the world, including in the UK and in the USA. She enjoyed her job and was extremely good at it. Her dedication and commitment to her job, even whilst battling with her failing health was simply amazing.

Rekha loved travelling, seeing new places and meeting new people. She had made many friends all over the world. She embraced new cultures with ease and enthusiasm, including when she and the family moved to Japan. Being in a new country where people spoke a different language did not faze her in the least. She even started teaching English to Japanese friends. On the contrary, she embarked on this as an exciting opportunity. She had a great sense of adventure, exemplified by the fact that she took to skydiving like a swan taking to water.

Rekha would say:

" I'd like the memory of me to be a happy one.

I'd like to leave an afterglow of smiles when life is done.

I'd like to leave an echo whispering softly down the ways,

Of happy times and laughing times and bright sunny days.

I'd like the tears of those who grieve, to dry before the sun,

Of happy memories that I leave when life is done'

Rekha will always be in our hearts. We miss you; we love you and will always cherish the good times together. Until we meet again…

Ray and Hayden
