Story
I've always wanted to cycle around the coast of Great Britain and to raise funds for Gearing Up 4 Gorillas at the same time makes it doubly exciting - no pressure then!
Gearing Up 4 Gorillas (G4G) is currently trying to equip and staff the first ever Environmental Education Centre in Virunga National Park, DR Congo, where some 200 of the last remaining mountain gorillas live. The rangers do a fantastic job protecting the gorillas and now want to inspire the next generation of 'Virunga Guardians', to love and look after the wildlife on their doorsteps.
£5 will buy materials for the children to use; £10 will help provide displays in the Centre and £20 will pay for a teacher for a week!
The route will take me around 2 months to complete and will total approx 4,5000 miles. After months of planning it looks like I'll be passing through 55 Counties, crossing at least 10 major bridges and using some 36 local ferries. I will be passing through 8 National Parks and, of course, all 43 Heritage Coasts!
I start on May 21st and should return around the middle of July.
I am relishing the challenge of 4,500 miles - thank you for helping the children of Virunga to explore and learn about the wonders of Virunga.
