Update 19th June 2012:
Mission Accomplished! All the hard training paid off and we all completed the route in 5.5 hours finishing off by conquering the dreaded Ditchling Beacon, the sting in the tail which was the steep ascent to the finish line. The weather could not have been better and fish and chips on Brighton Pier capped off a perfect day. Thanks to my team mates for their brilliant fundraising and making the whole weekend really enjoyable. We have all been truly bitten by the cycling bug. The fundraising total exceeded all expectations and the whole experience has been totally worthwhile. Dad, rest in peace, I love you.
Update 3rd June 2012:
What started off as an idea after a few drinks has resulted in all of us making a massive effort to get out and ride to clock up the miles whatever the weather. We have all improved our fitness levels since when we started training in earnest from March and now we are averaging 100 miles a week on occasion. On our latest ride we all completed 49 miles in just under 4 hours so we are all definitely prepared and looking forward to the big day.
