Story
Hi, on Sunday 22 April, I will be fulfilling a dream and lining up with professional athletes, competition club runners, people just like me and I imagine, a rhinoceros, a giraffe and perhaps a Paddington Bear too!
I will be running the London Marathon for the Children’s Society who do amazing work for under privileged and vulnerable children. I consider myself to have had a fortunate upbringing and childhood. I have a loving family and always felt safe and protected and that gave me the safety net to be confident and have a happy and fulfilling childhood.
But as sad as it is and as easy as it is to ignore, right now in Britain there are thousands of young children who feel scared, unloved and unable to cope. The Children’s Society works with these young people, step by step, for as long as it takes. They listen, they support and they provide practical support. There no simple answers to many of the complex problems children face but the Children’s Society with your support can continue to help make a positive difference. Can you please help by sponsoring me?
I will also be running in memory of two very special people who were those loving and caring people, always there for me when I was a young boy and who helped shape me into adulthood. Just over 5 years ago I lost my Uncle Shandy and in January I lost my Grandad. Both to heart disease. I know they will be looking down and when I cross that finish line on The Mall, both will be downing a seriously large glass of whisky!
Thank you for taking the time to read this.
