'SOUND AS A POUND' FUND RAISING APPEAL for Ravenscliffe School

Hi there. I hope you're well and feeling 'Sound as a Pound.'

I'm contacting you to ask you to support a very worthy, self-help project at Ravenscliffe High School in Halifax, an outstanding Secondary Special School for young people with a wide range of learning and physical disabilities.

Demand for places at the school has grown, to the point where the existing buildings are no longer big enough to accommodate the students safely. The building was designed for 69 pupils. Currently, there are 168 on roll.

Over the past four years the school has raised an incredible £1.7 million to supplement the £1.6 million of Calderdale Council funding to construct the new 6th Form building and Community Centre based at Spring Hall Athletics track in Halifax, due to open in Autumn 2018.

Despite this valiant effort, Ravenscliffe, still needs to find a further £100,000 to complete the costs of equipping the centre.

I contacted the Government to ask if a relatively small amount of Central reserve funding could be released to complete the task and relieve the school and local community of the burden of further fund raising.

Unfortunately, no funding was available, so, undeterred, we are launching our very own 'SOUND as a POUND' fund raising campaign, optimistically hoping to find 100,000 generous, warm-hearted individuals, willing to donate £1 each to complete this fantastic project.

We'll be enthusiastically spreading the word via a social media campaign to grow awareness of this ambition, hopefully with the help of celebrities, chefs, musicians and sporting heroes, willing to endorse the cause and motivate their many online followers. We'd love you to join them, using our catch phrase 'Sound as a Pound.'

To say 'thank you', the staff choir have recorded the inspiring, original song 'Call Me' as the sound track to a short video featuring the school, its pupils and their unique attitude to overcoming daily challenges.

So follow the link to the school's website - www.ravenscliffe.calderdale.sch.uk to watch the 'Call Me' music video and click on Ravenscliffe@SpringHall via the menu to find out more about the project.

If you would like to help by donating £1 (or £5 or £10) to the 'soundASAPound' fund raising appeal, your help would be very much appreciated!
