The Paramotor Challenge · 1 August 2022

To celebrate 80 years of the RAF Regiment, personnel are undertaking an array of events in 2022 to raise money for the RAF Benevolent Fund and the Centurion Fund.

Story

A small team of Force Protection personnel known as The Raptors are attempting to fly the coastline of mainland UK using Paramotors. A successful attempt to fly the coastline of mainland UK will be a world record. The Paramotor Challenge is part of the celebration of 80 years since the formation of the RAF Regt and 100 years since the formation of the RAF Armoured Car Companies. Known as the 80/100th, there are a number of events spread across the Regt. Our aim is to raise funds for 2 worthy causes, the RAF Benevolent Fund and the Centurion Fund.

The formal attempt will take place 01 – 30 Aug 22, but there is a number of build up events at various locations around the UK. The aim is to complete the 3192 miles of the UK coastline in 30 days.

The team consists of 3 pilots, Tim Taylor, Mike O’Hara and Andrew Whisker. Tim and Mike are RAF Regiment Reservists and Andrew is a Regular RAF Police Officer. The team will be supported by a small ground team of Reservists that will follow the attempt in vehicles.

Thank you for any contribution you can make, it will be gratefully received.
