The necessary equipment required to manufacture essential medical COVID-19 equipment is not available in sub-Saharan Africa. This poses a critical risk to the lives of millions across sub-Saharan Africa. The equipment and know-how in the UK will be transported to Kenya to save lives. Engineers and clinicians, with the support of the Kenya Ministry of Health, will urgently build and manufacture ventilators in Kenya using locally available materials at low cost to rapidly address the acute shortage of ventilators.
