Story

8 year old Saachi is a kind, caring and determined young boy. For a long time he has wanted to do something to help others and this year he was determined to make it happen. After talking to members of his family, Saachi decided to help a his uncle to raise money for a fabulous charity supported by Briggs Equipment UK. So Saachi decided to combine his love for bike riding and a family holiday to Wales and make the epic journey of 1,085m to the top of Snowdon!

With the support of his uncle and his dad, the determined young Saachi made the long and sweat inducing journey to the peak of Snowdon. There were times when he wanted to stop and make the return journey; knowing what getting to the top would mean - he did not give up! Everyone is so proud of you for thinking of others and putting yourself through the pain! Well done Saachi!

Saachi, my brother and I started our ascent to the summit of Snowdon with the E Bikes at 5pm when bikes are officially allowed up. I was already regretting the decision while suffering just getting up the Tarmac road to the gate to the Llanberis path. I truly wanted to complete this journey but was apprehensive about attempting it with Saachi my nephew at only 8 years old…. he however was the opposite! I had no doubt he could walk the route but with a very heavy ebike to take up, I really wasn’t sure if I could make it never mind Saachi.

Reaching halfway house tired and sweaty was a milestone and we were all feeling quite good and getting more confident it could be done. We soon realised as we set off though that the route got considerably harder and steeper after that!

Almost everyone we encountered on the accent from the half way house who were on their return journey back down the mountain looked quite concerned (they knew what was to come!) and were amazed we were attempting this on the bikes, either commenting that we were crazy for trying it or congratulated us and wishing us good luck.

The next 3/4 of a kilometre or so was punishing with the ebikes and rucksacks we were both carrying with 12kg’s each of kit including spare batteries as we had no choice to carry the bikes up a what felt like vertical staircase of boulders which seemed to go on forever. This is where a lady pleaded with us to leave our bikes and make the journey by foot as 'it is impossible to take the bikes up the steep inclines and rocky steps awaiting us’

As we climbed this steep rocky stepped path that seemed to go on forever my brother and I had serious doubts of making it up and were contemplating leaving the bikes and trying to just reach the summit by foot.

We asked Saachi what he thought… his reply was ‘we will only get the money for charity if we get to the top with the bikes’ with that he continued to push his bike up the steps with huge determination and struggle.

We helped carry Saachi’s bike up some tricky bits but he did most of the journey without any help, although I know how determined he is when he puts his mind to something I was genuinely shocked at his relentless desire to push on.

I can honestly say without Saachi and his determination pushing us all on there was a real chance we would have probably not have made it.

Looking around the stunning views at the summit around 7.27pm and seeing Saachi's sweaty red face beaming with a smile made me feel quite emotional. Total accent time 2,1/2 hours.

This boy has achieved something not many adults would attempt nevermind an eight year old.

Saachi….even when others doubted you… you never doubted yourself!

Even Saachi’s cousins and sister didn’t want to miss out (FOMO 😊) 3 year old, Reeya, her 5 year old sister, Anaya and his 5 year old sister Navaiya joined the efforts of climbing Snowdon in aid of the great charity and cause - Young Lives vs Cancer. The girls aren’t much for walking at the best of times so our initial thoughts were that we’d do just a short walk up. However, with some imaginiative play about lava and rocks the girls surprised us all and made it to ‘The Halfway House’. Well done girls! That night they all had a great nights sleep 😁

Just Amazing!!!!. Thank you all for your comments and donations to this very worth while cause!
