Ramadan Food Appeal

Support Muslim Charity in providing food to the most needy during the blessed month of Ramadan.

Muslim Charity supplies regular food aid to the needy and poor people in different countries through its food distribution program every year. For example, in Pakistan alone last year some 1.1million people benefitted from a food distribution programme undertaken by the Ehsaas partnership between ARY, Muslim Charity and partners. Additionally, another 55,000 people directly benefitted from Muslim Charity’s food programme all over Pakistan in 2010.

 

In 2011, along with Pakistan, Muslim Charity will distribute food in the following countries:

 

Somalia            Bangladesh            Palestine         Kashmir                  Srilanka                                    

 

Insha’Allah in Palestine, the food distribution will take place at the holy mosque of Al Aqsa under the auspices of an Imam of Al Aqsa.

  

Current Situation in Pakistan

·     Extortionate inflation has put the price of basic food items well beyond the reach of the struggling poor.

·     During the monsoon floods of 2010, Pakistan lost millions   of pounds of crops.

      The country is still struggling to recover.

Current Situation in Somalia

  

The drought in the horn of Africa has put 12million in desperate need of help, over 4 million are in Somalia.

•      Nearly two million children under five are currently at risk of starvation in East Africa.

•      The refugee camp at Dadaab, in Kenya, housing 500,000 (world's biggest Refugee camp)

•      The tragic irony is that some of them will die within a day or so of their arrival,since food is short.

•      Some mothers are letting the weakest children die, while they try to save the stronger ones.
