Story

Hi guys. Thanks for visiting my page!

This summer, I will be taking part in the Warwick Laksh Programme. This involves me, along with 3 others from the University of Warwick, teaching Maths and English to disadvantaged children in rural villages outside of Delhi for 4 weeks for free.

The scheme involves working with the current teachers so that the programme is sustainable and children continue to benefit once we leave and by continuing every summer helps to ensure students continue to thrive and benefit from the programme year after year.

The programme has been hugely successful in recent years by focussing on remedial learning. It has also grown substantially - starting in 2007 with one village to the extent that now over 1000 children across 6 villages are benefitting! Education for girls is also a forefront policy at Laksh - this has resulted in 43% female representation amongst the students and was a policy that made me even more excited to join.

If you're more interested about Laksh feel free to message me or have a read at https://foundation.lakshfarms.com/laksh-schools/.

In order for the programme to continue to thrive I have been tasked with doing some fundraising!

If any of you are interested in donating no matter how big or small it would be greatly appreciated.

Lastly, if you're interested in what your donation would actually do have a look at these stats!

  • £10 - would teach one child for one month through Warwick in India
  • £57 - could pay all the costs for one day of a volunteer who would train up to 25 Indian teachers
  • £100 - would cover the visa costs for one volunteer to work with the Laksh Foundation for one month, vastly improving their knowledge and classroom skills
  • £255 - would enable one Indian teacher to receive tuition and coaching from four volunteers for one month.
  • £350 - would teach 35 children for one month through the Warwick Laksh Programme
  • £750 - would pay for one Indian teacher to receive tuition and coaching from twelve volunteers for three months
Thanks
