Story
Hey Guys!
I am going back to South Africa to teach Maths in a local township for six weeks this summer but this time as a TEAM LEADER as part of Warwick in Africa!
Last year I saw first hand the vast challenges inhibiting a decent education for the learners- extremely overcrowded classrooms, gangs, a severe lack of resources and substance abuse are just a few of the problems.
However, Warwick in Africa works with local schools and teachers in a co-teaching format to deliver engaging and affective lessons to help bolster Maths and English grades- a huge alleviator of poverty in Africa.
One of the best memories from last year is seeing my Grade 10's pass rate in their trigonometry and graphs test increase from 8% to 89%
I got involved with with after school activities including extension classes and even drama! Getting to know the learners and their lives in the local township are some conversations I could never forget.
Over the course of my placement I taught 250+ learners and their letters and speeches thanking the impact of Warwick in Africa is the reason I am going back.
BUT... I need your help. By donating just £10, that is enough to pay for the education of a learner for a month! A huge push in their journey out of poverty through education.
I will keep posting about my experiences from last year on social media and you can follow this years journey there too!
Thank you so much for your donation :)
