Story
Dad had a catastrophic fall in May this year. A CT scan at the time, quite incidentally, picked up a pancreatic tumour - which had not yet spread. Over the next few weeks, dad battled with his eight broken ribs, a lung full of blood and then pneumonia. It took four weeks to get him back on his feet and home again. We then started looking at treatment options for the cancer. A fresh CT scan sadly revealed progression of the tumour: in the space of a few weeks, it had spread to the liver and stomach, and all hopes of a cure were vanquished.
Over the next three months we witnessed him courageously endure a steady decline, until one morning when God, through His great Wisdom and Mercy, lifted dad's soul gently out of his broken body, and took him back...
Cancer Research UK is the world’s largest charity dedicated to saving lives through research. Their vision is to bring forward the day when all cancers are cured. Contributing to this cause could help save millions from suffering and dying needlessly.
Dad had a tender heart and was very generous in giving, despite his modest means. We have been looking through his cheque book stubs lately, which are filled with charity donations - and we were not surprised to discover the breadth of causes that he supported. To name some: the Salvation Army, Surti Orphanage, Care International, the British Heart Foundation, the British Red Cross, Imran Khan Cancer Appeal, Islamic Relief, Macmillan Cancer Support, Edhi Foundation, and so on.
His varied concerns reflected his belief that Muslims should spread their love and benefit to all of humanity. In honour of this belief, which he instilled in us, we have chosen three causes (one local, one national and one international), which will help to continue benefiting humanity for many years to come (sadaqa jariya insha'Allah).
We would be very glad if you could honour his legacy and benefit his Afterlife by supporting these causes in his name.
