Story

Hello and Salaams,

Thank you for visiting my page.

Many of you will know in June 2019 I had a hysterectomy after suffering with endometriosis for over two decades.  This means I cannot have children of my own.  I made a promise back then that for the rest of my life I will help support vulnerable children.  Why?  This means I can keep the motherless mother in me alive.

You can learn more about my story here or press play on the video at the top of this page - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_M9knAp4SWI

I have partnered with Human Appeal to raise funds for the Freedom 50 National Charity Bike Ride, which will be taking place from 28 June 2021 to 2 July 2021 - starting in Oldham and finishing in London.  The ride will be stopping at Stoke on Trent, Birmingham, through Coventry stopping at Northampton, then Luton and finishing with a grand finale in London.

We will be raising funds for vulnerable children in Bangladesh (where most needed).  Helping children to stay safe and giving them access to education and support to grow safely and giving them a chance to a future helping to lift them out of poverty.

As much I would love to, I'm a realist and will be honest and say that I won't be cycling the full leg of the ride (although I will be there supporting the other riders and the team).  I have made the intention to train and prepare myself to ride at some point, whether it be virtually cycling miles around my local parks or from Birmingham to Coventry.  But I will be doing something to honour and support all the vulnerable, poor and needy children in Bangladesh affected by poverty and injustice.

Please donate what you can and help change the life of a child.  Every child has the right to a childhood.

Freedom50 Is a national initiative with individuals and organisations that have come together to form a collective to celebrate 50 years of Bangladesh’s independence.   Through Freedom 50, key events that led to the independence of Bangladesh in 1971 will be recognised together with the role that British Bangladeshis played in the UK.  The National Charity Bike Ride is one of the many events taking place.
