Thank you for visiting Glen & Sharon’s Rainbow Heart Appeal
fundraising page. This page has now closed for donations
We are immensely proud & grateful to our family, friends & our local community for their generosity in raising such a huge amount of money in such a short time. We have been overwhelmed by the response to the Rainbow Hearts & have worked hard to ensure every inquiry & order was fulfilled. We have surpassed our original target but sadly now have to stop making the Rainbow Hearts as we work in manufacturing & are required to return to work full time within the next week.
We would like to thank each and every resident in Store Street & Union Hall Road who donated here in lieu of the Rainbow Bunting that was erected in our Streets in honor of all NHS Staff & Key Workers and a special thank you to Lewis at A1 Double Glazing Repairs Ltd for donating their time in erecting the Bunting in Store Street for us. Also a special mention to Brian Stephenson, who in the course of his travels to and from work has been able to deliver Rainbow Hearts to doorsteps further afield & to Guy Hubble at Regalead Ltd as without the kind donation of material we would not have been able to produce as many Rainbow Hearts and therefore not raise as much as we collectively have.
The Power of Community is amazing & it’s been a pleasure to get to know more people in our local area than we knew before.
THANK YOU ALL FOR SUPPORTING US & STAY SAFE
Original Story:
Thank you for taking the time to visit our “Rainbow & Heart Appeal for The NHS Charities Together” page & for reading our story below.
As a result of the COVID-19 Pandemic Glen & Sharon had to make the decision to temporarily close their company & furlough their staff to ensure their safety.
They have two daughters who are both key workers. Their eldest daughter Georgia, works in the family run company part time & and part time as a Community Pharmacist. Therefore, she remains serving her community as a much needed NHS Worker. Their younger daughter Francesca, is a full time Registered Mental Health Nurse within the NHS. Glen & Sharon’s thought are never far from their daughters & they are immensely proud of their contributions to the fight against COVID-19.
On Saturday 18th April Glen decided to make a Coloured Lead NHS Rainbow Heart as a tribute to not only their girls but to all Front Line Staff & Key Workers who are keeping the country going & keeping us all as safe as is humanly possible.
There was very quickly a huge demand from family, friends & neighbours. With limited materials the initial thought was to make as many as possible to donate to people they know personally, as a small gesture of thanks for their hard work in the fight against COVID-19 whether they be NHS Staff or Key Workers.
A photograph was shared on social media & they were then contacted by Mr Guy Hubble, Joint Managing Director of RegaLead, Manchester who have kindly offered to donate the materials, free of charge, to enable more Coloured Leads to be made. So the decision was made to continue to make as many items as possible whilst they are are unable to work in exchange for donations to NHS Charities Together. Sharon will use her organisational skills to manage the orders and local deliveries.
In line with current Government advise your order will be delivered by hand, at an agreed time, and left on your step when Sharon or Glen take their daily hours exercise.
Item Description:
The Hearts are handmade by Glen using Coloured Film & Lead & are designed on 4 mm Non Toughened Glass. These are for decorative use only and are not toys as the glass is fragile and would be sharp if broken. They should be kept out of reach of children.
Images of all items can be found in the gallery.
The Heart:
These can be made with either the Rainbow colours or a Solid blue.
Minimum Donation of £15 per heart is required.
Size: Diameter of Circle 180 mm
Once Lockdown has been lifted & there is a return to work there will be less opportunity for Glen to make the Hearts however he will do what he can to full-fill any confirmed order requests.
Please help us to reach our target of £2,500 for NHS Charities Together.
