Story
Best friends forever ❤️
Last April, just a few weeks after this photo, Marie was diagnosed with advanced pancreatic cancer - no red flags, her only symptoms were tiredness and backache. She died six months later in October, just 6 days before her 40th birthday, leaving her family, husband Rob and three darling children aged just 1, 5 & 7 💔
We have created a foundation in Marie’s name, a legacy that will support @PancreaticCancerUK and the tireless work they do. We have big plans to do a lot for and with the charity, so hope you will be kind enough to support us along the way ❤️
What are we doing?
This Mother’s Day weekend, we, along with many of Marie’s amazing family and friends, will take on our first challenge - walking 55km across the ten London Royal Parks.
What are the stats?
More than half of people diagnosed with pancreatic cancer die within 3 months. Symptoms are vague, so many people are diagnosed at stage 3 or 4, when the cancer has spread and is typically terminal. It increasingly affects younger people. Survival rates have improved enormously for most cancers, yet for pancreatic cancer, this is not the case. It will soon be the fourth leading cause of cancer death. Yet only 3% of cancer funding in the UK is dedicated to pancreatic cancer.
Why Pancreatic Cancer UK?
The charity is dedicated to supporting people with pancreatic cancer, campaigning and funding vital research to transform the future. We would like to support them to make the breakthroughs that people with pancreatic cancer so desperately need - for diagnosis to happen sooner and in the hope of working treatment options that allow families more time together.
