Story
Rahul Patel, 1956-2021
All,
It saddens us deeply to inform you that our husband and father, Rahul, passed away on 13 February 2021.
He caught Covid over the Christmas period and after battling for 7 weeks, finally succumbed. He leaves behind his wife and 2 sons, 4 grandchildren and his wider family. That he survived for so long is a testament to his will and his fight; when he got a separate infection 2 weeks ago the doctors said that he would die within 48 hours but he battled back. Unfortunately he caught yet another separate infection and after giving everything he had, he could fight no more.
Our grief cannot be expressed in words but we can say that he lived his life. It is some small consolation that he was able to do so many of the things that he wanted, including see his two boys grown, married and settled; enjoy time with all 4 of his grandchildren; travel the world (he never made it to Antarctica unfortunately); visiting restaurants and drinking more than his body weight in wine and gin every year.
He was able to make real contributions to charitable causes dear to his heart.
We thank you all for your support and well wishes throughout this period of sickness and on into the next few weeks and months.
We also ask that no flowers or gifts of any kind are sent.
We have set up a JustGiving page for the Samaritans, which he cared about deeply and where he spent so much time – please make a donation there in lieu as it would have meant so very much to him:

We also know that, inevitably, with him loving people, being social and keeping in touch with so many, some will be missed from this distribution list. Please could you send this message on to anyone who you think may be relevant.
